Ian Mitchell Wallace

Wallace's life involves many forms of art. As a fine artist, his painting medium of distinction is watercolor. He also freelances as DJ, graphic designer, and illustrator. These lines of work began during undergraduate school at Lawrence University. He was accepted on the Conservatory Trustee Award and first student to complete their double degree program for a B.A. and B.M. in Studio Art and Euphonium Performance. In the culminate year, his work series The Gilded Gaze: Gold Leaf and the Element of Seduction, as part of Senior Exhibition 2011, earned him the merit-based Senior Art Prize for Men scholarship. He continued exhibiting in Chicago and achieved the rank of Signature Member with the Illinois Watercolor Society for his painting accolades. With aspirations to teach art in higher education, Wallace entered graduate school at San Francisco Art Institute on their Fellowship. His final works in the Vernissage 2018 show earned him the prestigious Outstanding Graduate Award in figuration from the painting department. He holds an

M.F.A. degree in Studio Art with Painting Emphasis. After graduating in May, while searching for permanent work, he teaches art part-time at elementary schools and extends his latest thesis by exhibiting. He is in the middle stages of collaborating on an article intended for journal publication about gesture and the performative body. Currently living in his home town of Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
